The 2016 Giro D’Galway charity cycle tour, which was launched last month, will see the event visit Clifden on its 360km tour of county Galway.
This cycle tour starts from Renville in Oranmore, and has four stage stops over the two days, in Clifden, Tuam, Portumna and Gort.
The Giro raises funds to support Jigsaw Galway and their free, confidential and non-judgemental service for young people’s mental health in Galway.
Justin McDermott of Jigsaw Galway said: ‘The Giro is an incredible experience. It is two tough days in the saddle, but everyone works togther as a team.
‘We set out with the shared goal of completing this challenge, of increasing awareness of Jigsaws across the county and also to raising vital funds to support young people’s mental health.
‘Each cyclist experiences life as a cycling pro. You get branded Giro gear, you stay in the team hotel, The Ard Ri House Hotel in Tuam, there are support vehicles throughout and on-tour repairs support from MBW Bike Shop.
‘All your nutritional needs are catered for and, of course, there’s the euphoria of being presented with your exclusive Giro D’Galway cycle jersey when you cross the finish line.’
It’s free to register for the Giro D’Galway, and all participants are asked to fundraise, donate or be sponsored €500 to take part. To register online visit www.jigsawgalway.ie/giro or call Justin on 091 549 252.
