Further progress on Clifden school

The signing of the contracts for the new school building in Clifden is ‘imminent’, according to Fine Gael Councillor Eileen Mannion.

The tenders for the long-awaited project were returned to the design team on September 14, and they issued a detailed tender report to the Department of Education and Skills in early November.

The design team were authorised by the department to issue a letter of intent to the preferred contractor in December, with the latter now in the process of completing necessary paperwork to allow for the signing of the contract.

‘We are now at the final stages of the tendering process and the next step is the construction of the new school building,’ Cllr Mannion told the Journal.
