John Greaney of Galway’s Team Hurt Locker won the Conamara Duathlon for the second consecutive year in An Cheathrú Rua on Saturday, February 27.

Greaney took advantage of the beautiful conditions, scrubbing over two minutes from his the time in last year’s wind and rain-swept race.
This time, Greaney lead point to point, dominating the two hilly 3.5km runs, and the 21km cycle.
Lorraine Carey of Ballina’s Liquid Motion Tri Club, dominated the women’s race, finishing seventh overall and with an excess of a four minute margin on Geraldine Gill’s second place.
Race director Rónán Mac Con Iomaire said: ‘We were delighted with the quality of the race and the quality of the athletes.
‘The Conamara Duathlon’s National Series status over the past two years has resulted in a significant increase in the standard of competition, and we’re delighted to be able to welcome some of the finest athletes in the country to An Cheathrú Rua.’
