New opening hours for Intreo offices were announced by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection today. Offices will now be open from 10 am to 1 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Speaking to the Connemara Journal on Friday, a spokesperson in the Clifden Intreo office said that current opening times were 10am-11am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays but emphasised that these were subject to change. The Departmental statement noted that these are emergency temporary measures and these opening hours will be kept under review.
With unprecedented demand for income supports over the past three weeks, offices need to ensure that resources are focussed on processing applications that are received as quickly as possible. This includes increasing the ability to engage directly with those customers whose applications contained incorrect information and can’t currently be processed.
To date the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection has processed almost three hundred thousand applications for Covid-19 related income supports. People are advised to apply online, via MyWelfare, which will further reduce footfall into Intreo offices in line with public health advice.
