Kylemore Trust, the parent company of Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Gardens, has appointed Conor Coyne as Executive Director. A native of Connemara, Conor returns to the west following 15 years in Dublin in senior management roles with Ervia and Ernst & Young.

Conor said: ‘There is a wealth of talent and creative people at Kylemore and I’m looking forward to working with them all and providing additional leadership for yet another inspiring chapter of Kylemore’s history.

‘We are currently undertaking an ecology and biodiversity review which is assessing how we can reduce our environmental impact and take proactive measures in all areas of the business. We have commenced a journey to electrify our fleet and will have completed this over the next two years.  Our goal is to be carbon neutral within the next 5-7 years.’

Conor will shortly announce details of investments on the estate, including the construction of a monastery, which he sees as ‘a monumental project for Kylemore as it will provide the Benedictine Community with a new base at the start of their second centenary in Connemara’.
