On Sunday September 08, the Oughterard Lions Club will be painting the town red … and green and yellow and blue… all in aid of the local playground and park facility, Corribdale Park.

The Colour Dash is being run by the newly formed Oughterard Lions Club and is the club’s first fundraising event.

The Dash is a colour -filled 3k course in the safe and enclosed Corribdale Park in the centre of the picturesque village of Oughterard. The event is a fun run aimed at families and will raise funds to cover the insurance and maintenance costs for Corribdale Park.

The park, which includes cycling and walking trails as well as outdoor fitness equipment, alongside a playground and Teen Zone is a fantastic amenity for the public and offers a unique attraction to draw people to the town.  It is run, maintained and insured by volunteers from the local community and all costs involved need to be fundraised yearly.

‘We are delighted to support this great family fun event,’ said Sinead Grimes, the Oughterard Lions Club president. ‘It promises to be a great day! We hope this will be the first of many creative, enjoyable fundraising events run the new Lions Club in the village.’

Sponsorship for the event came from SSE Airtricity, Seamus McDonagh Plant Hire, Electronic Concepts and Faherty Wholesale.

Participants are encouraged to wear white T-shirts and run, jog or walk to the finish line, getting covered head-to-toe in powder colour as they go.  Sunglasses are also recommended.

Four dye zones throughout the route will ensure there’s no escaping from the full-on fun of the most colourful event on the local calendar this year! The costs are €10 per adult, €5 per child. Registration for the event will open at 12:30pm on the day at the O’Malley GAA dressing rooms in Corribdale Park. Or you can buy your tickets now online at corribdalecolourdash.eventbrite.ie

The dash starts from the Corribdale Park at 2pm. All are welcome. So put some colour in your life and join us on September 08 for the Corribdale Colour Dash.
