This year’s WaterSports Day may have been the last ever, with organiser Patricia Keane stepping down after 25 years at the helm. If you didn’t make it to the family fun day on Glassilaun beach this year, there’s still time to donate.

Organiser Patricia Keane said: ‘We had a wonderful day and took in just over €4,000, which includes donations, and are hopeful of another couple of hundred on the way. However, bills must be paid, which includes insurance costs, hire of bouncy castle and toilets, and safety and equipment. Our aim is to get our profit of the day up to €5,000, bringing our grand total to over €70,000 since our very first WaterSports Day.’

‘So, if you didn’t make it down to the very last WaterSports Day, you still have a chance to donate. Monies will be forwarded to the charity CARI by Friday August 23, so don’t delay! Small amounts more than welcome.’

Thanking all the volunteers and supporters who have made WaterSports Day possible down through the years, Patricia said: ‘We are so proud of the success of this wonderful day, which started out as a one-day event but went on to last 25 years. We intended raising £500 to help abused children but went on to raise €65,000!’
