Galway football star Shane Walsh teamed up with Kavanagh’s SuperValu Clifden to present Naomh Feichin, Renvyle GAA, CLG Carna Caiseal, and Grainne Mhaols with their 2016 ‘Kit for Kids’ packages.
The Galway star was on hand at the Clifden store last month (pictured) to present young players with their juvenile O’Neills kits, including playing gear and training equipment.
The scheme is part of SuperValu’s long standing support as sponsor of the All-Ireland GAA Football Championship.
Commenting on the initiative, Walsh said: ‘I remember as a young player the excitement of new training gear and equipment, and I have no doubt the young players at these clubs will be delighted to get their hands on such great O’Neill’s kit.
‘I really enjoyed meeting some of the young players from these local clubs and hopefully encouraging them to continue their involvement with GAA which has had, and continues to have, such a positive impact on my life.’
Walsh was one of a number of intercounty players who visited SuperValu stores throughout the summer as part of the ‘Kit for Kids’ initiative. SuperValu’s continued support of GAA has seen kits worth €360,000 donated to over 400 clubs around the country this summer.
